The Client: An Icon of Global Style: Since 1926, the Couristan name has been synonymous with exquisite craftsmanship and uncompromising quality. Founded by the Couri brothers and privately operated for two generations, the brand has evolved from a premier rug importer into a global icon of residential carpeting and custom floor-covering fashions. For nearly a century, Couristan has set the standard for style in the home furnishings industry.
The Challenge: The Technical Bottleneck: Despite their world-class product catalog, Couristan’s digital presence was being throttled by a legacy infrastructure. Their core product database was hosted on an external, third-party Microsoft SQL server, physically separated from the web environment.
This architectural constraint created a massive “latency loop.” Every time a user searched for a rug or filtered a collection, the code had to traverse multiple remote locations to fetch data. The result was a significant technical bottleneck: frequent timeouts, sluggish search queries, and a frustrating user experience that didn’t reflect the luxury of the Couristan brand.

The MAXBURST Solution: Re-Engineering the Data Engine
MAXBURST was commissioned to perform a full-scale digital overhaul, focusing on infrastructure modernization and a complete UI/UX reimagining. Our primary objective was to eliminate the “latency loop” and provide a seamless, high-speed browsing experience worthy of a 90-year-old legacy.
- Database Migration & Optimization: We re-architected the data environment to eliminate third-party dependencies, bringing the core product database into a high-performance, integrated server environment. This removed the “traversal” delays and eliminated site timeouts.
- Lightning-Fast Search Architecture: By optimizing how the site interacts with the SQL database, we transformed a sluggish search process into an instantaneous “discovery engine” for designers and homeowners.
- Modern Brand Experience: We replaced the outdated interface with a sophisticated, responsive design that showcases the intricate textures and patterns of Couristan’s carpets in high-definition, across all devices.
